Yukari shows Becky how to fold a Yukata
The Yukata is like a bath robe. Typically, after bathing in a hot spring, we wear it to relax and go to bed in it. Also during the summer, girls dress up in a Yukata to go out for traditional local festivals, as it is nice and cool to wear, and some of them are very pretty.
This particular Yukata in the video had been stitched by me as part of a home-making class project when I was in high school. During the holiday period, just before the new term for the project, we we’re given 1 meter of cloth to make 100 lines of stitches as an assignment to practice hand-stitching.
The pattern on this Yukata is Sweet Williams, or Nadeshiko in Japanese, which is a symbol of delicate Japanese ladies.
Becky is looking after it now, so a lesson in folding was needed!
