'Skylark'

The photo is of me standing with my ‘Skylark’, was taken on the day I brought it home on 22nd November, 2021. It was my first lever harp made by Pilgrim Harps in Surrey, England. It is cherry wood and has 34 gut strings.

It was a gift from my dad who had passed away earlier that May. He had given me some money before he died. We would enjoy watching and listening to skylarks flying over the fields on sunny days.

I actually cried when I got my new harp home because I was afraid and couldn't believe what I had just done. For two weeks I daren’t touch it, and I just stared at it in disbelief! It was a feeling of overwhelming fear mixed together with loving excitement that I can't quite describe - like I had just finally found my instrument and yet I couldn’t play it!

And playing this wonderful harp helped me recover from our loss and led me to my wish to share its beautiful, relaxing and uplifting sound with others.
