In 2020, I created ‘Carry Forth Tradition’. It is heart driven and I hope to bring more beauty back to the world.

Born in Yorkshire in 1971, I have loved nature and arts and crafts since the day I was born. I’m fortunate enough to have grown up to appreciate the importance of traditions in a really, really old house lovingly restored by my hard working parents. I spent lots of time as a child playing, dancing, singing, dressing up, making dens and my imagination could roam free.

Growing up, we had a huge garden with a multitude of animals to tend to such as cats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, a goat, tadpoles, home-grown fruit and vegetables and greenhouses full of tomatoes and of course eggs. We would swap food over fences with our kind neighbours.

Having space to play outside with my sister and all the children in the street, trips to museums, walking in the countryside and camping holidays across Europe, I grew up with a sense of adventure. I remember going to work with my dad, a plumbing and heating engineer, and mum cooking, gardening, knitting, crocheting, writing, drawing and more recently painting. Other family members’ pastimes included repairing watches and clocks, fishing, works of intricate embroidery, baking, helping at Church, singing in choirs, playing the piano, I even played the piano too! Not surprisingly I grew up with a love for art and all things beautiful.

I have a BSc in Human Ecology, was a teacher for 12 years, lived in Singapore for nearly 6 of those, lived in Spain briefly. I’ve travelled far and wide, usually in search of times gone by and quiet, beautiful places and remote landscapes.

I practice Falun Dafa daily, an ancient Buddhist meditation practice that teaches truth, compassion and tolerance, to keep myself in balance, maintain harmony and a clear mind - so my creative side is alive! I’m a self-professed artist and create art, write articles and take photos for Carry Forth Tradition and have a channel on Ganjing World ‘Carry Forth Tradition’ which translates to Clean World - as in ‘pure’ world - for which I create videos.

Also, I am a voluntary human rights advocate and hope to shed light on the ongoing persecution of Falun Dafa in China at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.

These days I live between my home in Bristol with my husband and in North Yorkshire, by the sea, with my mum. I work part time at my friends’ plant nursery near Bristol ‘That Plant Place’. We have a channel on YouTube and Ganjing World which I make videos for.

yukari

Yukari Werrell was born and brought up in Japan and has lived in Penzance, Cornwall, UK since 1986. She has been a translator from English into Japanese. Yukari is enjoying finding lots in common between ancient Celtic culture and Japanese culture.

paula

Paula lives a very quiet but busy life raising twin boys.

As a trained horticulturalist, she runs a busy gardening round in her locale. She is also developing her natural skincare business from scratch.

She enjoys learning to strip things away to the bare necessities in life; leading to a simpler existence which is more fulfilling.

She is trained in Classical Realism portrait drawing from someone who trained at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence and loves to spend time in her studio practicing her art.

dean

Dean is the man behind the plant nursery in Oldland Common, Bristol called ‘That Plant Place’.

He’s an old friend of Becky’s husband, Neil, and is also Becky’s boss as she works at his plant nursery!

ioanna

My name is Ioanna Kalogirou. I was born in Cyprus and studied in Athens School of Fine arts, in Greece.

After my graduation I returned back to Cyprus. I am currently teaching art in my art studio. I spend my time gardening my small garden, painting nature outdoors as well as other subjects in my studio and teaching art.

I am happy that my art studio is currently growing as a space for hosting different events, and bringing people together to use it in different ways. Up to now, we have had events such as rain stick workshops, jamming sessions, art therapy lessons, cell-biology art lessons and meditation sessions.
