Some musings and information about horses and humans through history by Cheryl

Just thought I’d share some musings and information about horses and humans through history

It's interesting that horses and things wonderful and magical have always been associated in my heart. Perhaps this quote from the Irish poet William Butler Yeats captures that completely!

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

William Butler Yeats

No other relationship can spark our senses to grow sharper more rapidly than equestrian related activities. This depends on how much the human wants and allows for the step into the magic offered by the love of and relationship with equines.

Horses and of course nature express this quote daily for me. The different equestrian disciplines at their best reflect a learning curve rooted in both technique, creativity, and magical moments that surprise us. Of course, I'm only talking about those rooted in kindness and wisdom.

While popular scientific understandings date the relationship of horses and humans back about 6000 years. I'll post about an update that shows the timeline is much longer than 6000 years in another sharing! However, here is what’s popularly understood.

This quote from the following article always excites me, because it shows that NO other animal has shaped the world with humans more than horses!

“We have had 6,000 years of history with the horse and only 100 with the automobile,” states Gloria Austin, President of Equine Heritage Institute, Inc. whose mission is to educate, celebrate and preserve the history of the horse and its role in shaping world civilizations and changing lives."

Enjoy the article, there is SO much more to come!! Let me know your thoughts if you'd like as well!
